I stumbled upon this article by Victoria Law on ways in which women are helping other women survive domestic violence. It moved me tremendously and made me think about how important it is to work as a community to protect one another and to ensure a secure living space for everyone.
As Law writes of three collaborative organizations that are defending women: "Fan-Shen, FAR Out and Sista II Sista are examples of how we can address abuse in our own communities. By organizing community responses, they demonstrate how everyday people can break through the isolation and secrecy to interrupt abuse, either in the short term or in the longer term, and work to keep each other safe."
Heartbreaking as this issue is, Law's article is ultimately inspiring. Tell me about ways you are changing the conversation on domestic violence, and we'll work together to stop violence against women.
